u16 boys retain their Leinster title and girls u16s are runners up

The highlight of the junior indoor calendar is always the Boyne organised Leinster u16 championship hosted at the 4 court arena at Gormanstown College.
With the boys defending their title they won last year and the girls looking to go one better than their 1v1 defeat last year Railway travelled with strong squads.
The girls went through their group stages with a 100% record albeit most matches were closely contested and the standard of the group was very high.
The boys (with two teams entered and split evenly) played each other in the opening match ending in a fiercely contested 2-2 draw. The grey team topped the group after defeating Monkstown with the yellow team finishing third but both qualified through to the semi-finals. Showing how close the teams were both semi-finals went to 1v1s and the grey team won through against Portrane and Railway Yellows went to the third sudden death 1v1 before they overcame Monkstown.
In the boys final Railway yellows won 3-2 with Jan Trejbal coaching the winners and it takes something to win against the Indoor Hockey Jedi Master Coach Kenny "Yoda" Carroll coaching the grey team.
In the girls playoffs Railway played Corinthians and won 2-0 but the match was much closer than the scoreline suggests with both sides having chances to score to face Portrane for a second time who qualified out of the group as runner up.
Railway failed to find the form that saw them defeat Portrane 3-1 in the group stages and after conceding an early short corner could not force any real openings and it was more likely Portrane were going to get a second goal and they ran out winners and who were the best team in the final match.

A big thanks first to Boyne, Niall, Janell and the team it is thanks to clubs like Boyne who keep junior hockey on the map in Leinster.
Also from a Railway perspective thanks to Claudia & Hannah coaching the girls team and Jan and Kenny C taking the boys teams ...and finally to the parents and supports as without you none of this can happen !
