A member of our Irish Junior Cup winning side from 1975, Vernon Leahy passed away this week.

Vernon Leahy, a member of Railway's trophy winning 1st and 2nd teams in the 1960s and 1970s passed away earlier this week, aged 90.

Part of the Irish Junior Cup winning side of 1975 captained by Des Byrne, that team also captured the Middle League, Wright-Carey Cup and Galtrim Cup that season. Vernon was also a member of the first team in the league winning seasons in the late 1960s.

He will long be remembered also for his partnership with past member Paddy Dempsey for establishing the club's DemLea golf outing which ran for many years out of Milltown Golf Club. As fate would have it, this week also marked the Hockey Club's annual golf outing

Vernon will repose at Cunningham's Funeral Home, Blanchardstown, on Sunday afternoon, 12th May, from 3pm to 5pm. Requiem Mass will take place on Monday, 13th May, at 10am, in St Brigid's Church, Blanchardstown, followed by burial in Dean's Grange Cemetery.

May he rest in peace.
