Mens 1sts with goals from Jan Trejbal and Rob O'Brien defeat Rathgar in Neville Davin Cup

Railway Mens 1sts took on Rathgar in the St Patrick's day Neville Davin cup final at Grange Road.
Railway were favourites to win and started on the ascendancy forcing Rathgar to defend in the opening quarter and it was resolute defence combined with prolifigate attacking that saw the match scoreless going into the second quarter. However, more composure in possession and better link up play saw Railway force the opener and after a sustained period of pressure and several saves Jan Trejbal's goal bound shot hit a Rathgar body and with the keeper stranded on the ground behind and not able to save a Penalty stroke was awarded which Jan converted 1-0 halt time to Railway.
The third quarter saw Railway push for the second goal and after several short corners it was left to 15 year old Rob O'Brien to fire a drag flick in and show his team mates how to do it. Despite securing the second goal Railway errors and some indiscipline started to give Rathgar openings and several times Shomik returning from his back surgery and Kenny Carroll on the line were called into action to prevent Rathgar reducing the lead.
It finished 2-0 and a deserved if not accomplished performance from the lads but cup finals are just about winning them with captain Darragh Curley lifting the cup.
