We are gearing up for a major facilities upgrade at Park Avenue this Summer — and we’re asking our members to be part of it. Those big piles of stone are finally on the move as we prepare to deliver a series of developments designed to help every player Enjoy, Develop and Excel — the values that guide everything we do.
Ireland’s First Athletic Skills Model Training Pitch
We’re delighted to confirm that Railway Union will become the first hockey club in Ireland to install a purpose built multi skills play area inspired by the Dutch Athletic Skills Model. This innovative PLAYCE Sport mini training zone is built around four core principles: fun, versatility, creativity and inclusion.
With varied surfaces, asymmetry and movement challenges, the area helps players develop a wide range of motor skills — the foundations of long term athletic development. For our youngest members, this will be a game changer, bringing more variety, more engagement and more enjoyment to weekly training.
New Jogging Track and Calisthenics Zone
Alongside the multi skills area, we also plan to install a 40 metre jogging track and a calisthenics training zone. These additions will create new spaces for speed work, conditioning, strength and mobility — supporting everyone from our juniors to our most experienced players.
A Step Forward — With More to Do
This Summer’s works are an important step in our long term development plan. We have secured grant funding and raised funds through club initiatives, but we will need support from across our membership to fully deliver the vision. Every improvement we make is about creating a better environment for our children, our players and our wider community.
2027 and Beyond
Looking ahead, we have further ambitions to expand our on site facilities, strengthen our coaching structures and introduce more sustainability led initiatives as part of the 2027 and future phases of development. As always, we will continue to draw on the ideas, energy and support of our members as we work towards these goals. Delivering the full vision will require a collective effort, and over the coming months we will be inviting the Railway community to play its part in helping us create the best possible environment for our players to enjoy hockey, develop their skills and excel.
