We are really pleased to let members know that the Sports Club has been approved for additional funding towards some important climate projects it hopes to deliver in the next 12 months.

Through the work of our Development Committee and Sustainability Workgroup, the Sports Club has secured funding for a series of projects linked to better water management in the community and the installation of a dedicated Sustainability in Sport shed in the area alongside the hockey pitch.

The water related projects will include installing additional bore holes to access water for grass pitch maintenance; new water attenuation tanks and pumps to alleviate ponding after heavy rainfalls and water butts for the club and local community to better recycle water and reduce the demands on the Dublin City Council drainage infrastructure.

The planned projects are another important step by the club along its path to make an increasingly climate positive contribution to our community. The projects build on the climate actions already delivered by the club over the past 18 months. These focused on green energy via the installation of solar panels on the clubhouse roof (which now deliver c.40% of the clubhouse energy requirements) and sustainable transport with additional bicycle stands in the covered area by the hockey pitch and two new EV charge points.

The club is grateful to the support of the Department of Climate Energy and the Environment (Department-of-Climate-Energy-and-the-Environment/) and Dublin City Council via the Community Climate Action Fund for these projects.
