About the club

Railway Union Hockey club was formed in 1904 as part of the Railway and Steam Packet Athletic and Social Union along with other founding sports in cricket, rugby and soccer.

Railway Union ladies were formed in 1919 and will celebrate their centenary in 2019.

The club has five womens teams and four mens teams along with a vibrant junior section catering for boys (from age 5 up) and girls from 1st class (7 upwards).

Railway hockey is known as "the family club" in hockey circles for its strong traditional family and hockey values that resonate in a club culture that has been built up over many years. At Railway playing hockey the right way is more important than winning the wrong way and this culture goes right through the club.
